About Me
My name is Mary Adams.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Happy Camper Speech Therapy. I am an ASHA certified Speech Therapist since 2010 with 21 years of experience in the public school setting. I specialize in Speech Sound Disorders/Apraxia, Fluency/Stuttering, Early Intervention services, dyslexia literacy support, and parent IEP advocacy.
I am the owner and operator of my new private practice (est. 2025) and a mother to two amazing children. My passion is helping children develop functional communication skills and confidence. I want to empower families with the support and tools needed to help their children thrive, gain independence, and grow confidently with their communication skills. I have always been drawn to working with children and helping them unlock their full potential. My approach is family-centered and is designed to make therapy fun, engaging, and most importantly, effective. When appropriate, I love including sensory and nature-based fun into my therapy sessions.
I am a proud graduate from JMU in VA with a Bachelor's of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders (2001), and from NAU in AZ with a Master's in Clinical Speech Pathology with distinction (2008).

Evaluation
Following the initial phone consultation, if your child may benefit from speech therapy services, we will schedule an initial evaluation. This includes the use of standardized and non-standardized assessments, clinical observations, and parent input to understand your child's strengths and areas of growth. Following the initial evaluation, we will provide parents and caregivers with a detailed report of findings, results of assessments, and recommendations for an ongoing plan of care. We will take the time to explain everything clearly and answer any questions you may have. We want all families to feel fully informed and confident in the next steps towards your child's therapy journey!

Speech Therapy Sessions
After reviewing the report and family discussion for appropriate plan of care, we'll begin scheduling ongoing speech therapy sessions for your child. Sessions are typically provided for 30 or 45 minutes to address your child's needs. Whether we are focusing on articulation, language, fluency, literacy, or social skills - we use engaging and evidenced based activities to encourage development, growth, and confidence! We are so excited to be a part of your child's journey!
